Finish Your Solo Show
One-to-One Year-Long Mentorship with Haley

For the first time, I’m taking on a select few theatre artists for tailored, one-to-one support throughout the year as they bring their solo show over the finish line.

If you’re an actor, writer-performer or theatre maker who wants to create a solo show and you know you’d benefit from ongoing, highly personalised, dramaturgical and creative one-to-one support — from the early stages of development until it’s ready to meet an audience — this could be perfect for you.

I bring two decades of making solo theatre, including a Fringe First, a Dora Award, the Toronto Theatre Critics Award, and an Olivier nomination.

Only 2 spots available · Early Bird Deadline: 12 January, 2026.

apply for mentorship

Who is this for?

This mentorship is for actors, writer-performers, and theatre makers who want to create a solo theatre show.

It’s for you if:

  • You have a solo show that’s been living in your head for a while and you’re ready to make it real.

  • You’ve made a start but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure what the next step actually is.

  • You’re tired of working in a vacuum and circling the same questions alone.

  • You want a dedicated creative partner in your corner — someone who knows how to help you shape a show from the inside out.

  • You’re craving a structure that’s built specifically around you and your show, along with momentum and real accountability.

  • You want more personalised, continuous support than a course or workshop can offer, and you’re ready to commit to your work in a deeper way.

  • You’re able to commit a minimum of 10 hours a month outside our sessions to working on your show.

  • You’re keen for dramaturgical support and open and willing to take on notes and try things.

Who is this NOT for?

This mentorship program is NOT for you if:

  • You’re a comedian/clown/cabaret artist and want help developing a stand-up/clown/cabaret show.

  • You want help producing or promoting a show that is already finished.

  • You’re not able to commit around 10 hours a month to working on your show outside of our sessions.

  • You want someone to write the show for you.

  • You’re looking for a quick fix or a one-off session rather than a year of deep creative work.

  • You want feedback but aren’t ready to make changes or engage in an iterative process.

  • You’re hoping for a group experience — this is intensive, one-to-one work.

  • You’re hoping for a therapy or 12-step programme — I LOVE these things and they work great alongside this kind of work, but I’m not trained to deliver them.

What can you expect?

Whether your idea is in its early stages or you’ve been working on your show for a while but feel stuck, I’ll draw on my two decades of making and performing my own award-winning solo shows (and on having taught over 200 artists how to create theirs) to guide you through the process of creating a show you LOVE and are excited to share with the world.

My approach blends highly practical tools, tips, and techniques with the kind of emotional steadiness and encouragement (cheerleading!) that helps you quiet the inner critic (damn them!) and trust your instincts (they know better than anyone else). I’ll be there, inside the lonely process of creating a solo show, as your show unfolds.

This is an intimate, highly personalised process, and because of that I’m only taking on a couple of mentees, so your show will be front of mind for me.

You’ll receive:

  • Dramaturgical feedback to help you shape, refine, and deepen your show at every stage.

  • Clear next steps, so you’re never wondering what to do or where to go next.

  • Fun, uplifting sessions and encouragement when the inner critic gets loud.

  • A grounded, realistic plan that adapts as the work grows.

  • Creative companionship — someone in it with you, consistently and wholeheartedly.

  • A rhythm and process that is tailored to you and the natural unfolding of your show.

How will we work together?

We begin in January 2026 with a mapping session to set your creative plan for the year.

Over the course of the year, if you commit to showing up and doing the work, I will help you take your solo show from wherever it currently is to a finished piece that is ready to meet an audience.

You’ll receive:

  • Four hours a month of one-to-one dramaturgical support with me, arranged in whatever configuration best serves the work — weekly hours, longer sessions, or occasional deep dives.

  • Weekly email access for check-ins, short questions, and moral support between sessions. (Please note, I won’t be able to read drafts of your show between sessions.)

  • A January start, with our first meeting dedicated to creating a realistic but ambitious roadmap for your year.

  • Practical tools and guidance drawn from 20 years of making and performing my own solo shows and teaching over 200 artists.

  • A tailored creative plan that adapts as your show develops and grows.

  • Momentum, clarity, and accountability — the three hardest things to generate on your own.

If it’s helpful, I can also support you with elements of self-producing — like shaping marketing copy or strengthening a grant application — but only if that’s something you want to fold into the year.

Start Your Application

What will be possible for you by the end of this mentorship?

By the end of our year together, you will have:

  • A finished solo show — something real, robust, and fully yours, ready to meet an audience.

  • A clear sense of what to do next to give your show a long, healthy life.

  • A genuine sense of accomplishment from completing a major creative undertaking.

  • The confidence to take everything you’ve learned and apply it to all your future projects.

  • A steadier relationship with your instincts, and a quieter, more manageable inner critic.

  • A stronger artistic voice — not just for this show, but for the work you’ll make in the future.

  • Excitement (not dread) about sharing your piece, knowing it can stand on its own.

And you’ll leave with momentum — the kind that carries you into the next phase of your artistic life.

Full Price (from 13-26 January): £3,400
(Approx. CAD $5,500–£6,250 depending on the exchange rate.)

Beyond our four hours a month working together, you’ll need to be able to commit around 10 hours a month to work on your show.

What happens after you apply?

  1. I’ll read your application personally.
I want to understand you, your show, and where you’re at in your process.

  2. If it feels like the right fit, I’ll invite you to a short Zoom chat.
This not an audition — just a relaxed conversation to see whether working together makes sense.

  3. You’ll hear back from me within two weeks of applying.
I keep the process simple, transparent, and human.

  4. If you’re offered a place, you’ll have a brief window to accept.
Because this is a deeply personalised year-long commitment, I’m only taking on a couple of mentees.

  5. We begin in January.
Our first meeting will map out a realistic but ambitious plan for your year.

  • This mentorship is for actors, writer-performers, and theatre makers creating a solo theatre show.

Whether your idea is fresh or you’ve already started shaping it, we can work from wherever you are.

  • This isn’t the right fit for you yet. Once an idea has its hooks in you — and you can’t shake it — you’re ready to apply.

  • No. This mentorship is specifically for people creating solo theatre shows. I’m not a comedian, and while I love comedy, I’m not the right person to help you develop a stand-up show.

  • I’m based in the UK, so if you’re elsewhere we’ll find times that work for both time zones. Generally, sessions take place on Saturday afternoons or Monday evenings (UK time), but this is flexible.

  • You can absolutely do this as long as you give me a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. Anything less than that and you forfeit the session.

  • In my experience, it takes about a year to get a solo show into really good shape. These things take time.

  • If you’re looking for 8 hours/month for 6 months, submit an application and let me know why. If possible, I’ll see if I can accommodate it.

  • No. The Early Bird rate is the lowest price available. After 12 January, the programme returns to its full rate of £3,400.

  • I completely understand if this is too steep. There are many other ways you can learn from me that are less expensive. There are free resources on this website and in my blog. You can enrol in my self-directed Online Solo Show Creation Lab or Online Crash Course in Self-Producing. Make sure you are subscribed to my email list so that you are the first to know when I open up my books for one-off, one-to-one mentorship sessions and group workshops.

  • At least 10 hours per month outside of our sessions. This mentorship requires steady, ongoing creative work.

  • Of course. There’s a space on the application form where you can include any questions you have, and we can talk about them during our Zoom chat.
